Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity (GSRD)
At Firth Counselling and Relationships, all our counsellors are open to gender, sexual and relationship diversity. While this is a generic counselling service, we are committed to cultural humility and social justice. We do not subscribe to a heteronormative understanding of human sexuality. We are open to each client’s autonomy and agency as they grow into who it is they are becoming. Each of us defines ourselves as we unfold on life’s journey. Sexuality diversity includes all sexuality, sexual orientations, and identities, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual and those on the asexual spectrum. We are open to gender diversity inclusive of people on the wide range of gender identities: cisgender, transgender, agender, bi-gender, genderqueer, gender fluid and non-binary. We recognise the social marginalisation many suffer.
The same is true for our understanding of our romantic and sexual relationships. This organisation is open to all forms of relationship, not only those which are mononormative. The kinds of relationship we are open to working with are people on the aromantic spectrum, people involved in BDSM/kink power exchange relationships, sex work relationships, people in multi-partnered relationships (swingers, non-monogamous, polyamorous people), as well as those in monogamic forms of partnerships. We are open to your challenges and to learn and grow with you.
