Confidentiality

ConfidentialityCounsellors follow both the BACP Ethical Framework and the COSCA Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice. We expect all counsellors to know and follow them.  Everything told to a counsellor is held in the strictest confidence. Counsellors only record information they need in order to help their clients. Any information on clients is kept securely in encrypted files. Contact details identifying clients is kept separately from the case notes as an added security measure. Appropriate information will be shared only with clinical supervisors to ensure the quality of service provided to you the client. (Personally identifiable details will not be shared.)

Disclosure to outside agencies may be required where the law is broken or there is a serious risk of self-harm or harm to others, especially children. If such disclosure is deemed necessary, it will be first discussed with you, the client, wherever possible.

Your right to privacy is enshrined in the UN Declaration of Human Rights. We realise just how important this is to you. It is that important to us. Please ask for our Privacy Policy and Confidentiality Statement.
